The five piece band, GOLD HEART, features sisters Analise (mandolin, 21), Jocelyn (guitar, 18) and Shelby (fiddle, 15). They have created a lot of appreciation and respect from the bluegrass and acoustic communities. Their award winning instrumental ability and their astonishingly accomplished, harmony-laden music is rootsy, yet fresh and exciting!
The GOLD HEART sisters tour extensively and perform as a quintet with their father, Trent on bass and banjoist Russ Carson. The sisters have been strongly gaining attention world wide ever since their formation in 2005. They have completed a major international tour of the United Kingdom. Gold Heart was invited to perform as a 2009 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Official Showcase Band in Nashville, Tennessee. The Convention took place on September 28, 2009 in the Renaissance Grand Ballroom.
These very musically gifted young artists are also consummate songwriters, who wrote 9 of the 12 songs on the new album, “MY SISTERS AND ME”. Jocelyn pens the majority of the band’s impressive material and was one of three finalists in the 2008 Chris Austin Songwriters Competition (bluegrass category) at MerleFest. “MY SISTERS AND ME” was released August 25, 2009 on Rural Rhythm Records. The album was produced by Justin Carbone, (formerly with Special Consensus) and contains several songs that will be sure to keep bluegrass radio airwaves busy for years to come and will pave the way for this multi-talented “Emerging Group” to rise very quickly in the acoustic music scene.
Gold Heart is a tight group that will leave a positive impression on you from the first note to the last. They have set a high standard and this group promises to deliver their very best. The Gold Sisters give God above all the glory and they credit Him alone for their talent and inspiration. So hold on and never let go!
“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.”
Psalm 95:1
ANALISE
Analise, the big sister, was born in San Angelo, Texas. She provides the band with smooth mandolin playing and lovely lead and harmony vocals. She enjoys handling most of the emcee duties for the band. She is also the band organizer and helps with the song arrangements. Analise has also teamed up with the girls in writing several original songs. Believe it or not she played the highland bagpipes for two years before getting into bluegrass. It was a tough decision but she gave up the bagpipes to devote more time to playing bluegrass with her sisters. Analise has placed second at the Virginia Folk Music Association contest in the Adult Female Vocalist division in 2006 and 2007. This is a great achievement as the competition is always stacked with many talented performers and singers from all over the state of Virginia.
JOCELYN
Jocelyn was born in Tucson, Arizona. Her incredible rhythm guitar playing and heartfelt lead and harmony vocals add much to the band! She also contributes her unbelievable song writing skills. Remarkably, Jocelyn wrote or co-wrote ten of the twelve original song on their second release "Never Let Go". Four of her songs are also featured on the debut album "Journey to Heaven’s Bright Shore". "My Sisters and Me" the bands first project on Rural Rhythm Records, includes nine compositions by Jocelyn as well. Not only is Jocey the chief song writer and arranger, she is the glue that holds the band together. On April 25th, 2008, Jocelyn competed in the Chris Austin Songwriters Contest at MerleFest In Wilkesboro, NC. She was one of twelve finalist out of 983 hopeful entrants!
SHELBY
Shelby was born in Brunswick, Georgia. This little lady is turning ears with her amazing fiddle breaks. Shelby not only plays the fiddle but sings powerful lead and harmony vocals as well. She keeps the entire band on its toes adding fills and inserting spur-of-the-moment breaks wherever she can. Shelby's songwriting skills are also featured on "Never Let Go". Shelby is the 2007 and 2006 Virginia State Champion " All Around Junior Entertainer" for the Virginia Folk Music Association. Most recently, Shelby competed in the 2007 Berlin Fiddlers Convention in Maryland and took home 2nd place in the Youth Fiddle category! She also placed second in the Promising Young Talent division at the 2007 Yadkinville Old Time and Fiddlers Competition held in North Carolina. At her very first fiddle contest in Sierra Vista, Arizona, in September of 2005, Shelby walked away with fourth place. That was after she had only been playing for about three months.

Light In The Window
A series of rambles about CDs by Bluegrass Mercury …….
I still have very big pile of albums on my desk. These include those by Gold Heart, Ralph Stanley, Buddy Merriam, The Stonemans Patsy, Donna and Roni; Jessie Baker, NewFound Road, Phil Rosenthal, Tatiana Hargreaves, Claire Lynch and Various Artists.
The three youthful Gold sisters, Analise (mandolin), Jocelyn (guitar) and Shelby (fiddle) have been making heads turn for a couple of years now and, in what seems like no time at all, they have graduated to their third album. In the process they have stepped up from a self-released CD to making an album for, arguably, the most aggressive label promoting bluegrass today, Rural Rhythm Records. Gold Heart My Sisters and Me (RHY 1047) features 12 songs in all, nine of which were penned by Jocelyn and each is exceptionally strong. While Jocelyn contributes the most songs, the vocal duties are shared more evenly with each having a part to play in what are mostly trio arrangements; playing to their vocal strengths. The strongest song on the album is Nora Jane Struthers’s Sister, which has Shelby singing lead and the trio responding in harmony. Several of Jocelyn’s songs have a strong religious message and this is most noticeable in the a cappella performance of Heavenly Home. Others display her upbeat, homespun philosophy, as in the opening track Grin & Bear It. Another noticeable aspect to this collection is the strength of Jocelyn’s lead guitar work. Gold Heart are definitely moving forward along the right track. Supporting the girls instrumentally are Aaron McDaris (banjo), Alan Bartram and Trent Gold (bass), and Andy Hall (Dobro®). Another guest, Brandon Rickman provides baritone vocals in support of Analise’s lead on Never Be Through With Lovin’ You, the only duet on the album. As for Gold Heart’s previous album, producer Justin Carbone has struck a fine balance of making the traditional fresh and modern.
~Richard Thompson~British Bluegrass News, Summer 2010
"If angels sing bluegrass, this is what it sounds like."
~Keith Lawrence (Bluegrass Notes)
"This album (My Sisters and Me) just shimmers with the sound of a great acoustic music."
~ Jim Moulton (Country Stars Online)
"Gold Heart is a great vocal unit with strong instrumentation. A great show to see!"
~Sammy Shelor(Lonesome River Band)
“I have been playing ‘Never Let Go’ incessantly. Gold Heart has some of the smoothest, emotionally laden and edgy harmonies in the business. Couple such superlative singing with killer songs, fascinating arrangements and ferocious pickin’ and you enter into the realm of high-lonesome greatness. They really have something going on here.
~Dave Higgs (Nashville Public Radio/Bluegrass Breakdown)
"Gold Heart's album 'Never Let Go' is stunning - a dazzling diamond set in pure Gold." ~John Sheldon (Scottish Bluegrass Association)
"The Gold Sisters are one of the "best" new bands out there. I have also had the pleasure of meeting them and they are the sweetest people I have meet in a while. They deserve everything they receive. So get'er done girls."
~ Billy Ray Lathum
"I Have just received a copy of " Never Let Go". Stunning is a pretty good word to use for a cd that's so amazing. I can't believe just how enjoyable it all is and that this comes from three young (very young) sisters who sing so beautifully. And to crown it all, they wrote all the songs too. Young Shelby's songs are astonishingly good for one so young. What a great future they have."
~ Ken MacLeod (Radio Tay AM Dundee, Scotland)
"I have watched this band progress and grow over the past couple of years and am honored to know them personally. I enjoy their family harmony and great instrumentation. I'm sure if you take the time to listen you won't be disappointed, but entertained as well as amazed at their talent.”
~Mike Scott (Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition)
"Their songwriting and performances are stellar!" ~Bill McBee (Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad)
"Gold Heart is a great upcoming young group. Great harmonies. Watch for them. You're sure to enjoy."
~Doyle Lawson
"One of the most exciting and fresh sounding bands I have ever heard.”
~Niall Toner (Songwriter/Radio Presenter RTE Radio One, Ireland)
"This is one of the best new young groups emerging on the bluegrass scene. They play with the energy and enthusiasm of veterans already in the bluegrass genre.” ~Dennis Reamy (Sales Manager, Cedar Creek Custom Case Shoppe)
"Lovely young ladies with beautiful harmonies and solid rhythms."
~ Steve McCreary (Collings Guitars)
“…They absolutely knocked my socks off! They are called “Gold Heart” and these young ladies are true to their name. Their pure talent is amazing and their harmonies are enough to break your heart. I really can’t say enough about how good they sound. It reminded me of the first time I heard Rhonda Vincent or Dry Branch Fire Squad—a unique sound all their own. Simply inspiring! They are a pure listening joy!”
~Les Evans
“WOW! Again WOW! It should be known that my musical tastes have long been Heavy Metal, Alternative, Classic, and Hard Rock. But…I was truly awe inspired by the beautiful voices and such comforting songs this band offers. I was never into Bluegrass and until now I wasn’t aware I was even a fan but their performance was enchanting. Their CD was the first and only I have purchased in 15+ years. They have such amazing voices…beautiful and classic music of a lost era. I tip my hat…their works truly caught my ear and stuck.”
~B.P. Leesburg, VA
“Hello! I just saw the Song of the Mountains concert at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion Va, and it was my first time ever to see Gold Heart. No words really describe the feeling and emotion one gets from hearing the wonderful sounds of the sisters of Gold Heart!!! I've sang acappella gospel for years, and I'm here to tell you, I know the 'goose pimple' effect of good harmony! It's as you hear people say when they hear something really (REALLY!!!) good, "my goose pimples had GOOSE PIMPLES!" Truly wonderful talent, and "WOW" just doesn't do it ! God bless & keep you.”
~A new fan, Linda Wright
“Finishing off the evening was a group of super-talented youngsters known as Gold Heart. The Gold sisters range in age from 11 to 17, but you would never know it by their amazing pickin' and singin'. They treated the audience to some of the finest family harmony I have ever heard on one great song after another, leaving the crowd wanting to hear a lot more when the show came to an end. Gold Heart has a bright future ahead of them in the Bluegrass world, and we hope to see them on the Pickin' Porch stage again real soon!”
~Pickin Porch Crew
Trent Gold
Keeping watch over the brood and playing a steady upright bass is Daddy—Trent Gold. He was pressed into action in September of 2007 to play bass with Gold Heart. Trent was born in Honolulu but has his roots deeply embedded in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, where most of his extended family still resides. This proud papa is honored to be on stage with his daughters and quite pleased to be a member of Gold Heart!
